SMart Wind is a 50/50 joint venture between Mainstream Renewable Power ("Mainstream") and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH ("SPV") that has been put in place in order to deliver the 4GW Hornsea Zone effectively by 2020.
Siemens is a global powerhouse in electronics and electrical engineering, operating in the industry, energy and healthcare sectors. In fiscal 2009, Siemens generated revenue of €23 billion with products and solutions from its Environmental Portfolio. Mainstream is a leading developer of large scale renewable energy projects that accelerate global progress towards a sustainable future.
Both parties are fully committed to the offshore wind industry in the UK and have considerable experience in the successful development, construction and operation of large-scale renewable energy and other infrastructure projects. SMart Wind also brings to the consortium key relationships with leading supply chain companies in the offshore wind industry that will be necessary to ensure the successful design, construction and operation of offshore wind projects in Round 3.
SMart Wind has purposefully designed an organisation that combines a joint venture structure for efficient administration and management with the necessary key skills and companies in the value chain.
